PHYSICIANS

Stanley Schwartz, M.D.

Dr. Stanley Schwartz is the founder of Capital Oncology and Hematology Associates. He has more than 30 years of experience treating people with oncology and hematology - related conditions. He began his career at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) where he was actively engaged in numerous clinical trials. After leaving the NCI he built a busy medical practice in the private sector. He has been the medical director of cancer care services at several area hospitals. Washingtonian Magazine has consistently recognized Dr. Schwartz as one of the area’s top oncologists. He approaches each of his patients with compassion, sensitivity and caring that is unmatched in the medical field.

Kashif Firozvi, M.D.

Dr. Firozvi completed his undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University and received his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine.He remained there to complete his residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Firozvi continued on to complete his Hematology and Oncology Fellowship at Georgetown’s Lombardi Cancer Center. While at Lombardi he completed a fellowship in Developmental Therapeutics in which he was actively involved in clinical research with new drug development. His research has been published in several journals and he has presented his work at national conferences and medical forums. He is keenly aware of cutting-edge and investigational cancer therapies and provides unparalleled and compassionate care tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient.

Frederick Min

Dr. Frederick Min has extensive experience as a clinical investigator and drug developer. After his internal medicine training from Cornell, he proceeded to combined Clinical Pharmacology and Oncology fellowship from NIH and Georgetown University Medical Center. He has published and presented over 20 abstracts and articles in ASCO, ASH, ASCPT and FDA meetings. He has led several Phase I clinical trials as clinical investigator during the fellowship including the recently approved Treanda (Bendamustine). Most recently, he lead 5 novel therapies in different stages in the US, Europe and Asia as Global Project Leader at Novartis as Medical Director. There he also served as a committee member in Target Identification Committee which is a global initiative project to identify critical novel targets with the goal of personalized medicine. With his extensive experience as a clinical investigator and drug developer, we believe he will bring our patients the most up to date and advanced therapies available. He is fluent in Korean.

NURSE PRACTITIONER

Kristin Sorensen, NP-C

Kristin Sorensen completed her Baccalaureate degree in Nursing at Syracuse University. She earned a Masters of Science degree in 2006 and a Post Masters Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Maryland-Baltimore in 2008. Kristin is currently working toward her doctorate, also at the University of Maryland-Baltimore. She is committed to providing high quality care recognizing the individual needs of her patients and their families. Kristin is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and holds a Maryland license in Advanced Practice Nursing

Nurses

Our Oncology-Certified nurses are trained in Biotherapy, Chemotherapy and Oncology. They are experts at providing safe delivery of chemotherapy products and other types of drug transfusions. Our nurses strive to make your visits comfortable and efficient. Their professional skills and experience allows them to continually provide exceptional care to each of our patients.

Laboratory Technicians

We have a fully staffed laboratory and are able to receive immediate results for some blood tests including the Complete Blood Count, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel and PT/INR. Our laboratory technicians and are experts in their field. They provide outstanding care to each and every patient.

Support Staff

Our support staff, front desk, medical assistant and office manager have 20 years of experience between them.. They are compassionate to the individual needs of each patient and their families. They address individual concerns and of out of their way to ensure your experience at Capital Oncology and Hematology is first-rate.
